Science: Animal Adaptations with Focus on Birds
Our students will be exploring the importance of animal adaptations with a focus on birds, and creating biomimicry-based inventions of our own.
We will also have an in-house field trip from the Audubon Society of Denver, where we will explore how owls are night ninjas. After a discussion that involves looking at artifacts and exploring a stuffed barn owl, we will dissect sterilized owl pellets to look at their diet and identify bones.
Social Studies: Honoring Our Veterans
Our students will pause from science during the week leading up to Veterans Day, to celebrate the veterans in our lives. We will learn about how they use math and science in their jobs, talk about service and sacrifice and thank military members for their service--thank you to all our families who have veterans or active duty members!
