Our students explored the holiday traditions of other countries, including Israel, India, Germany and Mexico. We were lucky to have some parents share some of the traditions and memories of their respective holidays. A big thank you to Tinku Greenstreet, Peter Ruppenthal and Will Trachman for sharing their experiences and time with our students to help them understand the history and meaning behind Diwali, Christmas/St. Nick's and Hanukkah! And enjoy a few pics from the last day before Winter Break!
During our birds unit, we worked on our scientific illustration skills. We used authentic colors, labeled external body parts and attended to precision. Excellent work! Our class was honored to have the grandfathers of Ellie Zonca and Valle Palcso visit and describe their experiences in the military. They brought pictures, maps, artifacts and medals to bring their experiences to life, and we truly appreciate their service and time with our students--thank you!
Scientists At Work - Visit from Audubon Society of Denver
The Audubon Society of Denver visited our classroom to demonstrate how owls are night ninjas. After a discussion that involved looking at artifacts and exploring a stuffed Great Horned owl, we dissected sterilized owl pellets to look at their diet and identify bones! |
